What We Do:
The Hill Country Sheep & Goat Organization is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to education. Each year we fund many scholarships for college bound youth and college juniors+ in the Texas Hill Country studying agriculture. Recently, annual scholarship awards have exceeded $20,000. We also support educational activities for students and adults that focus on sheep and goats.
Our annual fundraiser in October is a fashion show and luncheon with a silent auction. The event features local businesses showcasing current fashions while a delicious meal is served by the Y.O. Resort Hotel in Kerrville, Texas.
Events we support include the Texas Make It With Wool Contest, Farm and Ranch Days at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Park, the Food and Wine Fest in Fredericksburg, County Ag Days for school children in the Hill Country and others. Through these events, we are able to educate the public about sheep and goats and their products including wool and mohair. There is nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up as they get to interact with these animals or feel a fleece for the first time.
Please consider supporting our work through membership (Membership Application) or donations (Donation Form). We also appreciate items for the raffle held in conjunction with the fashion show (Raffle Donation).
To educate the public on the benefits of the sheep and goat industry in a positive manner.
The objective of the Hill Country Sheep & Goat Organization shall be, through education, to support and promote the best interests of the sheep and goat industry, to practice and advocate the wider use of bi-products of sheep and goats, and to encourage cooperation among members.
